And now, well past my college years, I've discovered that I have a passion for contrast. Contrast in the colors of the metals are prevalent in much of my work as each metal has its own personality. Color is very important to me, so the difference in color of the metals along with the color of the stones that I use add much visual excitement to each piece. Even when working in gold, many times I use contrasting colors of gold such as green, rose or yellow. |
![]() Thumb rings fabricated of a combination of sterling silver, karat gold, and/or mokume, which is a Japanese process of layering metals to give a 'woodgrain' appearance. Approx. $350. | Ancient Egyptian and Etruscan art greatly influenced me as they were experts at using detail and color in their work. Although my designs are very contemporary I approach them in a way where I try to imagine how the ancient cultures would have handled the execution of the work. I basically use ancient techniques such as Etruscan granulation or the Korean process of Kum-boo or the Japanese 'woodgrain' technique of Mokume in a contemporary way. |

I am a one person operation who designs and makes one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces in karat gold, sterling or a combination of both as well as in other metals. I use both precious and semi-precious gems. I will take the most unusual stone I can find and then design around it. The majority of my work is fabricated as opposed to lost wax casting. I am drawn to the versatility of the torch and the ability to solder different colors of metal together. When I first started out in jewelry I leaned toward fluid, organic designs but now my designs are much more geometric in nature, as I am drawn to the linear designs in the works of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Arts and Crafts Movement. |
| In addition to my contemporary jewelry designs, I also do a series of earrings and pendants, etc. using the Roycroft square rose and other Arts and Crafts style designs.
Please note that the photos shown are examples of my high end work, however, the overall prices of my jewelry pieces can range anywhere from $30 to $2,500. |
