Frank Lloyd Wright Gardener's Cottage

The arts and crafts period of the late 1800s ushered in a new attitude in the design of leaded art glass. The designs produced during the period made a far more subtle transition from outdoors to interior space than had previously been executed in leaded art glass work. With the use of simple lead lines and the combination of clear and opaque glasses the light available was maximized and a gentle conversion was allowed to occur between nature and living space. Not only was the art produced by the craftsmen of that period in a more harmonious relationship with nature, so was the whole arts and crafts movement. It was not just a style but rather a philosophy.

Fragment Series. Art glass panels are approx. 10"x12" created in a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design. Each panel utilizes amber and green iridescent glass combined with clear with a fashioned irregular edge, producing a "fragment" appearance. Mahogany base, approx. $275.
The Arts and Crafts movement began in England with the ideas of philosopher John Ruskin and designer and poet William Morris. They held the belief that the economic system would support craftsmen who produced high quality work -- and by virtue of this handiwork -- would be held in high esteem. A direct departure from the "mass production" thinking that was occurring then.

These are the ideals with which we embrace the Roycroft Renaissance movement of today. We have been a part of that movement for the past 20 years and have enjoyed Master Craftsmen status for much of that time.

Arts and Crafts Lantern. Opalescent amber and earth tone art glass constructed with copper channel "cames" and crowned with a hand fashioned copper canopy bordered by accents of iridescent glass. Truly one-of-a-kind, it may be custom installed as a table or wall fixture. Prices range from $450 to $650.
Our mission statement is a simple one:

Whether we are creating an art glass piece of our own design or reproducing a design from an old master, it is our goal to create art glass of the highest quality. To find its place as a valued heirloom and perhaps to be an inspiration to an artist in the future making the creative energy ongoing . . . .

Custom orders on panels and period lighting are welcomed; consultations by appointment; Monday through Saturday.
