Gregory Paolini has been designing and handcrafting custom furniture and cabinetry for over a decade, with some of his work having been featured in Fine Woodworking Magazine. In addition to making sawdust and wood shavings, Gregory has authored freelance articles and advice columns for several publications, including Fine Woodworking and Cabinetmaker magazines. Gregory has received "Invitations to Exhibit" at the prestigious Providence Fine Furnishing Show in Providence, RI – Arguably one of the top ten juried shows in the United States. Gregory is a member of The Furniture Society, and a juried Roycroft Renaissance Artisan. Gregory Paolini lives in Western New York, with his wife Ramona, and his shop assistants (two rottweilers and eight ferrets). Their home is a short drive from the historic Roycroft Campu

"I like to design all of the pieces I craft – Even my reproductions. Very rarely do I craft an "Exact" reproduction. Even those pieces are changed in some way: A change in dimensions, or the addition of a concealed compartment. I like to add something to the design."

Gregory Paolini began his woodworking career by building upon a passion, and out of necessity. "I never really had any formal training in woodworking. I inherited some hand tools, and began making some really, really bad things. That was almost two decades ago." Gregory chuckles. "I was blessed in a way – I had hand tools but couldn’t afford power tools. I was forced to learn traditional, old world craftsmanship: Hand planing, joinery, dovetailing. I salvaged wood from pallets and where ever I could, and put into practice the techniques I learned from books."

Today, Gregory expands upon his woodworking knowledge by continuously pushing his designs to the next level, and new horizons, while keeping a mindful eye of the details. "I pay a lot of attention to the little things – I’ve come to realize that often it is the littlest things that make the biggest difference. I know that no man’s work will ever be perfect, but it’s my responsibility to craft each piece as close to perfect as my creator will allow."
