Little Journey Celebrates the Roycroft Chamber Music Festival

Updated: Jan 16

An intimate performance by Roycroft Chamber Music Festival musicians and two students from East Aurora High School who have been mentored by professional musicians will conclude the 2024 season of RALA Little Journeys and commemorate the conclusion of a 30th successful season of the Roycroft Chamber Music Festival. This performance, originally scheduled for December 12, 2024, was postponed due to weather.  This week we are finally able to say, happily, that all original elements of this performance are confirmed for our NEW performance DATE on January  23, 2025.

East Aurora High School students Elliot Ticen and Will McGarry have been mentored by the Roycroft Chamber Music musicians in collaboration with Alissa Nanna Iorio of the East Aurora Union Free School District and will open the evening.

These student performances will be followed by an intimate performance by two well-known and accomplished former BPO musicians, cellist Eva Herer and violinist Amy Licata.

As a branch of the Roycrofters at Large Association, The Roycroft Chamber Music Festival has presented a series of concerts each June with musicians from the US and Canada in collaboration with the WNY performance arts community for 30 years. A presentation on the history and work of the Roycroft Chamber Music Festival will precede the musical performances, and a period of engagement and questions from the audience will follow.

The evening’s program will begin with a relaxed start at 5:00 PM before the Little Journeys commences in The Salon at 6 pm. Guests who attend Little Journeys receive 10% off of their dinner at The Roycroft Inn that evening by mentioning Little Journeys when making a reservation. As a RALA Little Journeys, this performance is offered at no cost with required advance registration. Tickets are needed for entry.

The performance will be live streamed to Membership and Patrons for those who cannot attend physically due to circumstance or geography. If you are an active RALA Member or Patron, please use the link below to join us remotely.

Little Journeys connects the Roycroft community by offering artist talks, demonstrations and lectures that educate and stimulate intellectual and artistic curiosity, and serve as a homage to Elbert Hubbard’s original Little Journeys, small trips to artists of note that shared intimate glimpses behind their process and lives. For years, this series was an important part of RALA’s presence on South Grove, and offered “show and tell” by Masters and Artisans, Artisan Forums and visiting nationally known speakers. RALA is proud to bring this series back to its birthplace at The Roycroft Inn and to conclude the first season of its successful return with a celebration of 30 years of Roycroft Chamber Music.

This performance, like all Little Journey installments, will be live streamed to Members and Patrons in good standing who cannot attend in person. For more information on membership, see our Membership page. Membership opportunities and tickets for the 2024 Goodie Box Fundraiser will be available at the evening’s event prior to and immediately following the meeting and presentation.

Elements of the 2024 - 2025 Goodie Box will also be available for viewing as one of the final opportunities to purchase tickets before this year's drawing at National Arts & Crafts Conference at Grove Park Inn in February 2025. This year's annual Goodie fundraiser is valued at over $9,000. For more information or to purchase tickets online (NEW!), visit our website.

Mark your calendars for the next Little Journey, the first for 2025, on a new night, Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Master Sculptor Henry Schmidt will present on the late Wendell Castle. The Roycroft Chamber Music Festival will open its 34th season with a ticketed gala and concert event at The Mansion at Knox in May 2025.

The 49th annual Roycroft Summer Festival will take place on June 28 + 29, 2025 in the Classic Rink of Riley Street in East Aurora.
